You know, I would have thought this would go without saying ... but:

Why on earth would you want to attack your own team? Honestly ... people who exploit this bug are just shooting their own foot, IMHO. Why not put your energy into attacking the other team? I know, strange concept ...

I posted a bug report about this last week as soon as I saw it for the first time.

It's happened to me about 10 times since then.

You DO get faction for killing the idiot who does it. Usually they seem to roll fire eles and try to get everyone before they know what's happening with Meteor Storm. So I guess they get faction as well.

A message comes up that "so-and-so has left the game", and they grey out on your party window screen, but they don't actually leave the game and they are now your enemy. Also the other team's enemy too from what I have observed, although I'm not completely sure on this as the bug never happens to me.

It's VERY irritating and hopefully ANet can figure out a fix soon.
